Montpelier Plantation Wedding- Nevis, West Indies

When Kelsey reached out and asked how I felt about traveling to Nevis to photograph her elopement, I was so beyond excited. Any chance to get back to the Caribbean is exciting, and taking photos of their intimate wedding was a total dream.

First of all, Kelsey and Jordan are the kindest, warmest humans. Their wedding fell on my birthday and they went out of their way to make ME feel special. Their warmth was evident in that 15 of their closest friends and family made the trip over to Nevis to celebrate them. Everyone was so happy for them. If I didn’t know what kind of people they were before, I sure did when I saw the love and excitement on their friends’ faces.

Secondly, The Montpelier Plantation is an absolute gem of a location. The property is sprawling, with views, forests, and rolling hills. Monkeys frolic through the trees and lizards slither across the paths. The staff is so helpful and wonderful, and their wedding planner Abby was so great to work with. The rooms are open, well lit, and comfortable. I can’t imagine a better backdrop for a wedding,  big or small. And the FOOD. OKok, I digress.

Nevis is truly a paradise. Quiet and beautiful. It’s also where Alexander Hamilton was born but wasn’t mentioned in the Broadway sensation! If you are looking for a quiet and remote location for your small wedding or adventure elopement, it just might be a good fit for you.

Kelsey and Jordan got married in front of a gorgeous ancient tree, with the mountain in the background. They held an intimate candlelit dinner in the 18th century sugar mill. They partied poolside and took a walk in the dark to release a lantern of well-wishes. This wedding was wonderful. Oh- and did I mention Jordan did the whole thing on crutches after breaking his foot a week before the wedding? Now that’s badass.
